Biography of Khudiram Bose

Khudiram Bose was a Bengali revolutionary and freedom fighter who played an important role in India’s struggle for independence. He was born on December 3, 1889, in Habibpur village in Midnapore district, West Bengal, India, and died on August 11, 1908, at the age of 18.

Bose was inspired by the ideals of Indian independence and revolutionary leaders like Sri Aurobindo and Bal Gangadhar Tilak. He joined the revolutionary group called Anushilan Samiti at a young age and became an active member.

In 1905, when the British government announced the partition of Bengal, Bose was deeply affected by the move and decided to take action against it. Along with another revolutionary named Prafulla Chaki, he began planning to assassinate the British judge Magistrate Kingsford, who was known for his harsh treatment of Indian freedom fighters.

On April 30, 1908, Bose and Chaki carried out their plan and threw a bomb at a carriage they believed was carrying Kingsford. However, they mistakenly targeted a different carriage, which resulted in the death of two British women who were not the intended targets. Bose and Chaki were caught by the British police and were subsequently tried and sentenced to death.

Bose’s trial and execution were widely covered by the Indian press and became a symbol of the Indian people’s resistance against British rule. Bose’s bravery and sacrifice inspired many other young people to join the struggle for independence, and he became a hero of the Indian independence movement.

Khudiram Bose’s legacy continues to inspire generations of Indians to fight for their freedom and to resist oppression. He is remembered as a brave and selfless young man who gave his life for his country’s cause.
